God’s Promises for
Have you ever flown through a turbulent storm, surrounded by dark clouds and lightning? It can be alarming to realize you’re completely at the mercy of the pilot and elements. But that’s exactly why pilots are trained to use instrumentation. If a pilot flew by instinct or simply what “felt right,” the situation could quickly go from bad to worse.
The same is true with us. Tumultuous circumstances and clouds of doubt or fear can threaten to swallow us whole — but God’s instrumentation of truth comes to our rescue — breaking through the storm and into the bright light of day.
2 Corinthians says “we walk by faith and not by sight.” Like the pilot in the storm, we must rely on God’s Word and Spirit to carry us beyond what may feel right and into what is actually true. Do you need His rescue today? Here are some truth-filled reminders from Scripture:
- We don’t see the whole picture, but God does. “‘My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.’” Isaiah 55:8
- You will land safely. “Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid… For it is the Lord your God who goes with you; He will not leave you or forsake you.” 2 Chronicles 32:7
- Better days are ahead. “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory, no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11
When we navigate life in the truth of God’s promises, we see with greater clarity and visibility. It impacts our relationships and the level of gratitude we have for all God has given us — including our resources. It motivates us to seek out ways we can help others break through the clouds too. One practical way you can impact lives is by including a ministry you care about like Capital City Rescue Mission in your Will. Your gift can extend freedom and hope for generations to come — raising people from their circumstances, into the truth of Christ.
